Opendota estimations are based on what MMR people display on their profile. Many people remove their current MMR from their Dota profile, but the last updated one still stays. This inflates the estimation and there is a HUGE variance and deviation from the estimation.

yeah its not accurate .... example: u play a game where 9 ppl are not checked in open dota and 1 guy is and he is like 5k ull see that avg mmr of the game will be 5k based on that 1 player .... same thing with estimated mmr
i honestly dont know why open dota doesnt just look at the skill bracket and estimate mmr. instead they use the last updated mmr. you can imagine how i bring down the average mmr of any player who plays with me
