Happy Weekend!
7.07 was the first big balance patch since 7.00 and with a variety of changes, it was only natural that Valve would act quickly to correct heavy outliers. Anti-Mage had a significant rise in popularity and success, peaking at a 58% win rate across all games. With nerfs to his talents, that win rate has gone down significantly (53%), though the hero is still a very strong pick these days. On the other end of the spectrum, Tiny and Pangolier have received much needed buffs, putting both around a 45% win rate, a significant increase from the previously below 40% win rates. While players obviously still need to adjust to both heroes, their win rates at least look promising now.
The patch notes can be found here.
Moonduck's MidasMode is set to begin in a little over a week from now and the studio announced further details for their unique format. The exact details can be found here.
Two North-American esports organizations announced major news this week. Complexity Gaming was officially acquired by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and real estate mogul John Goff. Days later, it was reported that Texas Rangers co-owner Neil Leibman had acquired a majority stake in Optic Gaming. Both esports organizations will retain their CEOs, Jason Lake (coL) and Hector Rodriguez (Optic), and both will relocate the majority of their teams to Dallas, Texas. Both brands have multiple teams across various esports titles, with Optic recently acquiring The Dire led by TI5 champion Peter 'ppd' Dager.
Both Dota 2 squads have yet to qualify for a Major, though compLexity has already played at the StarLadder i-League Minor and placed 3rd/4th, earning 30 Qualifier Points per player. More info on the Pro Circuit standings can be found here.
TI7 champions Team Liquid claim their second LAN title of the season. Following their victory at StarLadder, Liquid performed quite admirably on the first LAN on 7.07, dropping only 2 games in their run. In the finals, they faced off against Vici Gaming and were even behind 0-2, but the Europeans staged quite the comeback with three quick games. Despite having two LAN wins under their belt, Liquid is only 3rd in the Pro Circuit standings. Major winner Virtus.pro came in 4th, while TI7 runner-up Newbee secured 3rd place.
An overview of the tournament can be found here.
Thanks for catching up with us. We hope you enjoy your weekend.
Is there anyway to see which the number of total game mode games played after the patch, so we can see if turbo mode is attracting more people into pubs, that would be an interesting thing to look at.
DotaPit has continued its league play and Team Secret is the first European team to qualify for the LAN finals, following Newbee and Infamous.
Shouldn't that be DreamLeague?
I don't get this tiny wr increase BEFORE patch is out. Is it just missing dates or patch really came after it?
