5 man stack. Is it common to blame , badmouth, callname, curse your teammates ? in General Discussion

    I don't know...
I have some (5+) stack friends and we have been playing dota quite often for last 6+ months
I feel that a 5 man stack is a much less enjoyable game experience.
Often times we got quite angry at each other and rage quit.

Is this common or just us ?

Probably you are so much together that you get like tired of everybody and theirs personality. I don't know. Maybe some guys gets mad when someone else does an horrible mistake?

There is a lot of things that you should think of yourself.

If you take dota serious and want to win, 5man stack is always funnier if you also play against another 5man stack with even skill-level as you are.

      Thanks,
      Egeenz.

There can be 2 reasons IMO:
1 ) your stack "forces" you to play the same role over and over. Which may be boring
2 ) you are simply bored of 20 minute GGs because Valve matches your stack with solo players mostly.

Actually my experience 5 stacking seems to be the opposite of what everyone claims on here, we often lose and get rolled. And then the bitching ensues. I think the issue is we all vary wildly in rating. Thus our top 2 guys really have to carry hard, me and another guy are kinda in the middle and our worst guy is an absolute feeder. So if we go against a team that has 5 semi decent players vs the variation we have they often snowball off our weakest lane. And then our high rated guys bitch out the low rated guys.

You expect to win 5 stacking and when you don't you get mad and also the competition is usually a lot better.

          Vandal

It's just the nature of a team game when it reaches competitive levels - especially when no one in the team is a master of the game in a clear fashion.

See, if you have the master, his word becomes the law. No one blames each other, because they leave it up to the master to utter the blame. They fear if they blame someone and they're wrong, the master will smack them down into their place. To really cement this master idea, consider if 1 of the players in your 5 stack were Dendi, and for some reason, he was decent friends with all of you. That would stop the flaming right there and then - he would be the final decision on any tensions. He'd be the blamer, and instead of getting heated/arguing, people would accept it and move on: "Yeah, I fucked up."

On the other hand, 5 people who are decent here and there - but definitely none of them are masters - leads to everyone having a huge ego. Everyone wildly speaks up about everything they feel strongly about, and there is no one leader to quash the madness. It is especially harmful if one person in the group THINKS he is the master when he actually isn't. Maybe he's a bit better mechanically/statistically than everyone else, but he is by no means a top-level player deserving of the control he tries to exude. He ends up insulting/pissing off everyone else to whom he talks down (unless those people are pussies and just submit to the pseudo-leader).

            edit:
The above is in regards to 5 man stacks of "competent" players - the equation changes when newbies who lack fundamental knowledge enter the equation.

sounds like theres some sexual tension between players in your stack

              whoji

I agree with what Mark said. I think that's our problem. variation in skills = meh..
Besides, sometimes it is better to have one and only one to take the leader role. When you got two good guys (means two hard carries) they often mad with the other. Oh , that's Vandal's point :) .

@LUXON. "1)your stack "forces" you to play the same role over and over" . that's true. being the 'team noob' = go play support.

I so hope there's a female in the team. People will be much much more friendly and polite.

.... or much aggressive maybe :D

Depends on what you call a 5 man stack
Playing with 4 FRIENDS is cool
Playing with 4 nerd tryhards who get stressed with the game is definetly not cool

                    cartographer

When you play as a stack, you tend to have expectations. What you need is a stack that can take criticism, that way you can call each other out on bad plays. A stack which doesn't respond well to being criticized should only be for casual play.

                      mwsqz

well just find another stack then, whats the point playing with moronic friends

                        [Lk].Zano

I actually flame a lot more in games where I stack with 4 friends or 1-2 + friends of their own that I don't know than when I solo que. Somehow I feel more comfortable flaming someone I know and have some solid friendship with than a complete stranger...unless that stranger is completely retarded or course. We know that we are not being serious with the insults anyway, so it's not a problem for us. It helps that all of us have a pretty similar skill level. That way, everyone can blame each other and nobody gets focused so hard it seems cyberbullying :)

making people actually listen to you can be a very challenging task, but certainly is rewarding if you're a good team leader and it's benefactory for all parties. flaming almost definitely has the opposite effect, and you should be able to restrain yourself.

                            Quick maffs

sano is right. If you play with real friends its cool and you probably will not get stressed.

But if you play with tryhards that really want to win they will blame everyone if they lose, and probably start bitching.

                              Murdock

I laugh so hard when our team is solo players and enemy team is 5-man party. And they are losing and raging.

                                Dire Wolf

I usually just play with one other person or two at most. Then when we lose we always blame the pub players in private (on mumble). Solid strategy!

                                  Lyo

It depends on role you like to play and how skillful your friends are

If you like to play carry (and know how to) and you have 2 friends to support you, you will win no matter how bad rest of your team is

just dont rage at every mistake made. raging does nothing but harm to the team.

If I stack with my mates I sometimes encourage them to play better by calling them bad, van-art should know it. Usually he hates me then but in the end we are still in love.
