If you have avast antivirus or Norton, the update gets flagged as suspicious material and gets blocked (as far as I know, it's just those 2). Try turning off your antivirus software until it's done downloading.

So I have this problem, I want to play dota but steam says it needs and update, the trouble here that the size of the update is constantly increasing so it takes forever
But when its "done" downloading and I press play, it happen the same, steam says that the game needs another update
I can choose to "play" the game without downloading the patch but I can't enter any match not even one with bots
Now I'm waiting for the third time downloading this "update"
Anyone having this trouble? or something similar?
