You misunderstand rat doto, as most people do. Split push =/= rat doto. Tinker is not a rat doto hero.
Rat doto means avoiding fights while split pushing. It's like coward push doto.

Then when ppl see I play a lot of NP they are just assuming I play rat doto. I only used that definition bc ppl kept telling me my "bad" trait was rat doto, so I figured it meant playing a split pusher like NP. I have learned it is better to try to pick ppl off, help in team fights with my ult, and get items increasing my utility in team fights rather than just going pure dmg and only go after towers.
Take a look at my NP games - early on I pretty much always got a specific item set, which included Mjollnir. I now try to get scythe almost every time, although I think orchid can be very useful too.

The most effective way to play furion in pubs, is to be as active in ganks as possible. His teleport spell means that there will always be one more hero available in ganks, team fights, etc. "Rat dota "in pub games is usually just a bad excuse for not carrying a tp, so you lose buildings like a retard for no particular reason.
Yeah I think its more of a "im a man so I'll man fight the team" versus "I'll avoid team fights and take the ancient instead."
People hate it because it's more testosterone induced to kill people in team fights then take towers then avoiding the opposite team and just taking down their towers.
It's a pride thing, its an intel, thing where "oh my team I picked will out teamfight the other team so I must be smarter" thing.
My view on it is you take the ancient you win. What I don't like is the lack of communication of how someone will play that character, if they don't state at any point that they are ratting and tell the rest of the team to not teamfight, and then you have say Natures in formation with you then he see's an opprotunity to counter push because his whole team is about to engage in a teamfight, TP's out then you're standing around with your pants around your ankles situation. So that aspect I do not like about it.

Based on the responses I am confident I do not play rat doto. Maybe at first, but definitely not now.

It's not fun to farm well, be winning a game 40-20 and still lose because not enough people TP back or you make one mistake and wipe and rat doto fucker who is 2-4-2 kills your ancient while you res.

Yeah don't give up the rat artemis. A win is a win. People hate Natures and other split pushers, but thats bc they aren't holding tp's always. Low pro problems so no worries. I always carry a tp (unless I'm obs/sentry/dust bitch)
Against rats u need to pick storm, lc, void etc. make sure they cant get away no matter what.

low kill games could be consider rat dota. Chinese teams used to be notorious for this. They would play hour long games with like very low kills like 6-6 or 5-6 score at the end. There would be like only 2-5 team engagement only and early game would be like 2 carries not hitting each other buy letting each other farm, lol. Russians just took that and turn it into a higher meta.
^^ bkb was simple wrong in that match. all the 5 int did was pushing.

turtle is defending and not pushing. Any passive game can be considered rat dota. I'm being schooled by someone hasn't even played dota 1 and just recently learned spectre is OP vs. AM, lul.
Rat dota is just a term coined by losers who are frustrated at not being able to convert a gold lead into a win. That is simply a problem with lineup and playstyle. There is nothing inherently wrong with split-pushing at all, just players QQ-ing at not being able to deal with it.
China games used to be very long because during that meta of defensive tri-lanes, not picking fights was simply the most efficient tactic. Defensive tris were notoriously hard to gank and the supports would constantly double-pull and stay off the map, so the opportunity cost of ganking simply wasn't worth it. Thankfully newer patches shifted the game away from that meta.

Why do people hate it?
I obviously don't mind, as NP is one of my favorite chars to play. I just notice a lot of ppl seem to hate on it, especially NP. I am assuming tinker gets similar flak, but I hate him so I personally don't know.
He isn't hard to counter, and downing towers-rax is the point of the game, so what exactly about it generates this "rat doto = evil" attitude.
Is it specifically NP because he can teleport? Is it just that people don't like dealing with push oriented chars?
If you go Scythe, use your ult before team fights, and teleport in to help when you can, then I don't see why he can't be considered helpful in team fights.
