How/Where do you play morphling, when is he a valid pick? in General Discussion
Low Expectations

So I have started playing morphling recently and the results are... horrible at the the very best. I dont really understand the role of that hero. For example what position do you play him in? (personally and what suits him best)

I have tried both mid http://dotabuff.com/matches/559204126 (We got crushed hard)

Safelane http://dotabuff.com/matches/558648104 (It didnt feel like I had large enough impact on the game)

And I even tried him offlane http://dotabuff.com/matches/558669239

When should you try to gank with morph? If you rush eblade for example should you go out and look for kills or just tp into huge ganks? What min is eblade expected? (depeding on you lane ofc) If you go mid when should you start rotation looking for ganks overall?

      - You should usually get linkens before eblade
      - Two of those 3 games were played with 3 late game carries, need more early game
      - He should be either played safelane or if you know your able to dominate in cs even mid then its find mid but not as an offlane because he needs to have farm to be usefull

+ the hero does have a very high skill cap

I usually play him mid. You need to use his ult effecively, and most importantly, man the fuck up and morph when in danger. I rarely buy ethereal first (you just won't have the mana, and it won't really damage that much). I usually go for bottle, treads, perseverance at least and then ethereal (sometimes I skip ethereal though). I believe treads are a must, so don't just sit on brown boots for 20 minutes. You can use your ult to fill your bottle, control the rune then gank another lane or just to catch up with a fleeing hero. Careful though, it has a big CD, so don't use it recklessly.

^ agreed, treads are a must. They have amazing synergy with the hero's skill set as well as bottle

If you buy eblade first you wont have enough damage to really instantly kill someone. Its a combination of your level being too low (unless you took forever to farm the eblade) and your stats being too low. Building an item with a ulti orb (like linkens) helps a lot with your stats.

You need tons of regen on him. At least pick up a Perserverance before your Ethereal Blade.

I'd only play him safe lane with good supports. His early starting damage (mitigated by morph) and attack range are weak.
