but that means that the MMR is taken into account when NOT playing Ranked? or are there 2 different "mmr"s? One for ranked, and one for "pub"?
Normal matches don't mean shit regardless of skill level ever since ranked mmr system came out, however in ranked their are certain mmr ranges for the skill brackets.
< 3.3k Normal
3.3k to 3.7k High
> 3.7k Very High
Imo they should make more skill brackets for people way above 3.7k.
@Alucard indeed, I guess they wouldnt put "low" so they dont offend the scrub tier but Id probably do something like:
< 2,2k - very low
< 3,3k - low
< 3,7k - normal
< 4,5k - high
>5k - very high
The "mmr" för unranked games, what does that take into account? like Wins/losses? How does dotabuff figure that a game was "high skill" and not, if it is a "hidden" mmr?
Maszyna: The problem with that is most likely 3.7k is well above average. Ranked average is probably somewhere 2250-3000
There were some graphs and apparently average was like 3,6k but it was just ranks submitted by some people, so it wasnt that accurate because people in the lower brackets might not wanted to submit their ranks.
Yeah the people who tend to use websites related to dota (dotabuff, dota subreddit, playdota) tend to be higher skill. Its no suprise that trench tier games have <5 dotabuffs but high games often have >6. I guess I'm the exception, being a scrub and all
@maszyna
The statistical average of a dota player is not 3.7k. Probably closer to around 2.8.
I was led to believe (no specific source) that the average rank amongst players who actually played RANKED GAMES were aroud 3.5-4k mmr. The ones like me who play a couple now and again have way lower ranking, somewhere between 2.5-3k mmr. I can believe that this theory has some merit, but as I stated, I have no confirmation. :)
Furthermore, I have checked dotamax.com and they rate games differently from Dotabuff. I have way more High Skilled and Very High Skilled there, than I have here on Dotabuff. Howeverm I can only do a manual count here, so I might be slightly off... :)

How do they work?! I have no idea, to be honest. Some games get "Very High Skill", some get "High Skill" and the rest get blank. How does that ranking of games work? What is it based on? OMYGODALLTHEQUESTIONS!!?
