in higher ranked games you wouldn't be able to farm an aghs anyways unless ur playin it as a core (as it used to be played a few patches ago) and even so you'll spend a shitload of mana to kill illusions whereas an ember can do it spending 50 mana

That is simply false. Pugna is all about push strat at is most commonly played as safe lane farmer semi carry, with a mid and offlane that also farm quickly. For example, when DK used him, Pugna would be played by burning.
Also, I don't know why you think a sleigh of fist attack will kill three farmed naga illusions in one cast...
it can possibly work as a side-counter to naga/tb if u put him offlane. If the player's good, he can farm up aghs from the offlane. Putting him as 1 or 2 is probably shit because he dies wayyyy too easily.

This is sorta a side point. A pugna in pro play is almost always seen in safe lane farm.
A pugna in off lane will most likely get tower dove and murdered by a competent tri lane, but if the off lane team doesn't try kill the pugna, his Q will net him farm and protect the tower.
Fnatic did it in a game vs Alliance. It worked great the only problem was that the pugna didnt offer anything besides that past 30 min (it was mid pugna)
I do remember NaVi running XBOCT on pugna for a few games a few months back, it was mostly successful, getting an early mek and forcing down towers. I do believe they won a relatively late game too, with XBOCT having farmed up a BKB/Mek/Aghs combo he was deceptively tanky and put out good DPS, that 300 drain per second shouldn't be entirely underestimated

Been playing some pugna recently. I really like the hero and he is great when your team has balls and knows they can end the game fast with quick tower pushes. More often than not i end up balls deep and alone and get destroyed though... My last game my team didn't get that need for quick push. They had a razor and AM and our slark decided to afk farm a S&Y rather than help out. We really should have lost but luckily their razor d/ced. Even though the enemy team used him, they didn't use him effectively and we won.
So that being said, I got a Aghs this game because i noticed it took out illusions in a previous game, and it made a huge difference. Despite AM being enormousl fed, he was unable to finish off rax several times because with aghs there is no cooldown and a huge range, so pugs can instantly kill both illusions.
Despite being very much an early game hero, I was wondering what higher ranked players thought of using Aghs pugna to counter Naga or Terrorblade? Early game aggression combined with instantly killing illusions at long ranges seems like a solid play. hardest thing about it was that casting his ulti twice in a row takes a solid chunk of mana.
