And then what, just pew pew and farm, don't push towers anymore? Hard to safely hit towers if other team has a lot of gankers now. Maybe sniper has to go safe lane, too gankable mid.

but with smoke any hero will get ganked, and sniper with good lane controll can keep creeps close and stand under tower.
sniper has too many direct counters, any tanky hero with a disable/burst can dive the tower and pick him off, if he is not heavily supported

So what you spam shrapnels to the left or right of lane just to see if people are coming to gank you? I guess that's fine if someone calls a missing and it's obviously, but pubs are not very heads up with their calls and I'm not good enough to scan all the lanes simultaneously and watch mid.
well I used to be sweet with him (ok that's a relative term but I was maintaining over 60% win rate in ranked) but I would always push t1s aggressively with shrapnel. It was quite easy. Once my lane's was down tp into other lanes, do the same. Then I usually had lots of space to farm. So the change is throwing off my strategy.
sniper is really good mid if u max shrapnel first. almost guranteed kills at 6 if u have 3 charges of shrap ready
Shrapnel is pretty godly after the changes..50 mana per cast and with good management one always have 1 to 2 shrapnel charges in hand..imo it's really dumb not to max it now, it makes sniper able to contribute early to mid skirmishes very well and farm quickly
Also, I wouldn't go mid with sniper unless it's last resort Lol ... even then it really boils down to the match up and opp's lineup. But with new shrapnel changes sniper can offlane rather well, if they can't just dive and burst you under tower.

Shrapnel is a ganking tool.
Its not going to save you. If you have a safe lane free farm. 1 shrapnel is enough till later I think.
If you want to get your gank on, max shrapnel.
But its hard to say. 1/4/4/1 seems good still.
Headshot really does nothing except mess up your last hits though early, since you don't have the ias to dish out the deeps. On other hand, I couldn't count the amount of times shrapnel allowed me to win duels and kite melee heros, especially after the change.. I still prefer 4/0/4/1. At level 4, level 2 take aim imo gives more bang for buck as opposed to taking 1 point in headshot.
how does 90 maxed physical damage and a slow do nothing...?
It only messes up your last hits if you rely on it
Then you realize you don't have the as to make any good use of headshot.. and get juked because you can't pop shrapnel to reveal your target.

Still maxing shrapnel? I played him once and did awful. Was vs a pudge and bara so I couldn't really push my mid tower well at all with shrapnel change. It was too dangerous to go across river to shoot it. It was a really bad lineup for me to play and we got crushed. Trying to determine if new shrapnel just changes the play style, or I just played shitty or enemy team was too big of a counter and I should give it another go.
I just don't like the new shrapnel at all, I realize mana is a lot better but cooldown is way too long as well. It went from what, 15 seconds old one to 40 now? That's ridiculous, I think I need to try again maxing headshot now and maybe I'll skip aquila and go drums or something.
