Anyone playing table tennis competitively here? in General Discussion

    Hello, just wanted to ask if someone plays table tennis. I always had the same bat for like 5-6 years while playing casually in clubs and I wanted to play more competitively now that I moved and the clubs are not that hardcore here. After consulting the bat master of my club he made me a really nice one but it costs 150€ in materials and I was like what the fuck I would understand ~100 but 150 really?
    I still love the sport and every regard of it. I just wanted to share it somewhere and since this is the only forum I visit why not here
    What kind of player are you? I guess most younger players love to play offensive with topspin, I do aswell. I really like the strategic aspect of the serve, like having one key serve you can do perfectly and conditioning the enemy to that and then mixing in different stuff. I always do a long diagonal sidespin sometimes mixed with a really short one just cutting the net into a normal linear straight as they expect a diagonal one. I dunno I love this stuff, it's so versatile for me right now and I can apply the competitive mindset I gained from esports in general.

          I played it amateur level a couple of years, national pros were at the tournaments too. Unfortunately I wasn't good enough but still a hobby xP

            Your bat master sounds like he has no fucking clue but I could be wrong. Usually the case here in Europe!! Give me the specs of your bat/racket? And I'll tell you if he's right and if we're talking quality or appearance. Also share your style and weight preference on the handle and gum

              My first one had Friendship 729 on both sides, wood unknown (it was the bat my uncle bought for me when I first started)
              He wrote some numbers too:
              Control 6
              Tempo 6
              S(pin?) 8
              and something about the sponge or something idk what it stands for:
              AR+/OFF
              1,5/2,0
              sticky

              that was my old one I wasn't satisfied with since I want to play a faster topspin and game in general. I want a really light wood as I feel like a heavier one will get on my wrist in long term.

              The one he got me to test (I didn't buy it, just testing for now):
              Acuda Blue P2
              Control 7
              Tempo 10 2,0 (I guess it's the sponge)
              S(pin?) 10+++

              Acuda Blue P3 OFF
              C 8
              T 9 2,0
              S 10+++
              the wood is Dr. Neubauer Kung Fu (http://www.drneubauer.com/shop.php?cat=2&cat_s=&lang=de&prod=63). It's a local producer I think

              he also told me the tendency is fast rubber and slow wood

              So in general I want a fast forehand and the rubber I'm testing really fits what I want. The backhand I'm not sure as I tend to use it mostly to quick score a point with a flip-like topspin and if I'm not using that I mostly use it for backspin defensive play. Not too sure where I want to develop my backhand into.

              I have zero knowledge about tech stuff to be honest
