damage has its input and output. output = input *discount factors (armor, magic resistance, block, etc.). mb HD from regular stats is the output, and Damage from combat log is input?

I actually do not know, its just a guess basing on how different they are

im guessing combat damage shows all damage dealt to units including creeps, neuts and buildings.

the title says "dealt to heroes", though.

Pretty sure Triple is right. You do 10k damage, but the enemies may only take 5k from it because of armor etc. So the higher damage is actually how much you did, but the lower value is how much the enemy actually took.
