Question for Cookies about Calibration in General Discussion

Is true that all the games prior to calibration dont count that much, and the most important thing is the player performance on those 10 calibration matches?

    What matters and what doesnt?
Dmg done to all enemy team, creeps farmed, Damege to enemy buildings, item choices, KDA or kill participation?

Already calibrated not going to smurf, just so i know some shit.

      A little bit of everything.

      🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

        1. Performance doesnt matter, but what might matter is the amount of games(not fully tested)

All that unranked does is set your starting mmr, so the performance does not technically matter but if youre NS and you hope to find this as an excuse to get VHS

You wont perform like that, so dont expect it.

For stats its very simple, all the stats that you can see at the end screen matter

But from what ive observed, its the heaviness of the stomp you make that gives the best results

Aka high kda, short game, lots of bld, hero damage, gpm etc.

Its most about proving something to another guy, since you are a serial smurfer, you know your shit.
Dont you always start calibration at 3k mmr? when i started at level 13 on old client my games where all 3k at the start, them droped to 1.5k

          4pos pudge/grim only

you will know where you belong even at the first of the 10 calibration games. i was matched up with some 2.8/2.9 from the beginning of the calibration and and i was calibrated at 2.9k after 10 games. if u want to get high or something, play well on normal games (lot of them) and just hope u will meet some hs/vhs player on your very first calibration game. gudluck

            Dr. Banana

I don't care what happens in my calibration games as long as I don't abandon and get high Tower Damage I'm happy.

              🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

Since im fairly high skill, all my personal accs start at mid-high 4k ( once even 5k, but dropped a bit to 4.8)

Obviously i can play bad on a smurf and start at 3k and calibrate mid-high 4k, and vice versa i can start 4k and drop it to 3k.

The accs ive started at 2-3k were those when i did the calibration experiment

Like ive said, i can artificially make any mmr 1-5k

Is there a max climb? like if you pick a 1k account you can only climb like 3k+ mmr? or is the system maxed out at 4.5kmmr

                  🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

System is maxed at 4999, int ranked is 4.5

I havent tested 1k starting mmr accs but highest ive gotten during calib is +500 per game

So i guess you can, but im not sure if there's a limit

But if you start at 1k, you definatly belong there

So you can get bots to roll around in 1k mmr with -+50%winrate, so when you calibrate you get to up them to 4.5k-4.9k play some games to get a stable 5k.

                      🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

Like ive said, i havent tested with a 1k starting mmr calibration

I have had +500 per game, so theoretically you maybe can get 8 games in a row where you get +500, so 1k start up to 4.9 calib, but i never teeesteeed itttt

                        Hello 3ks

Guys, i have a question. I already played 2 games for my MMR to be calculated and my team average MMR is 3.1k. Is there any way to get out of that 3k system? During my unranked match i got HS/VRS but most of all i just got NORMAL skills. I played BH then i got VHS, after that my bracket goes down again to NS. Should i keep playing UNRAKED game and get VHS then continue my RANKED game to be calibrated?

                          Johnny Rico

once you started calibration you only change your ranked mmr on calibration games

                            Hello 3ks

So it means after that calibration my MMR will just be about 3.1k? Because my team ave is just 3.1k

                                look

my first TBD game was 4.2k avg

i lost 6 (!) games in a row, every time the avg rose

PERFORMANCE is key, GPM XPM TD HD low deaths decent cs

some of those games were support too, im sure high fight participation and low death count is weighed heavily for supports

So guys, if i win during my calibrating games and i got VHS is there any possibilities that i might have 4k MMR after calibration?

                                          Johnny Rico

if you get VHS during calibration you are 3.8k +

                                            🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

                                              hello 3ks, you're not performing like a 4k+ player, don't expect 4k+

ive played mid twice today and stomped both games ?_?

                                                Kermit's dark side

@hookandrole. My main is 2k, ns.
However after my last smurf "analytical analyzer" I calibrated at 3.8k and managed to keep that mmr and even went up to 3.9k then I got bored and now I'm here. I don't play my main very much anymore, only when I play with friends really.
So if you play well you'll be calibrated somewhat high. It's not hard to get VHS and 3ks are still terrible at the game

                                                  keisuke89

Games prior to calibration matters, because they set your first calibration match's average mmr.
I mean maybe you can climb from 2k average mmr to calibrate at 4k, but it saves you a lot of time and effort to start at 4k instead of 2k.
Maybe you'll end up at 4.8k if you climbed from 4k, instead of ending up at 4k after climbing from 2k.

First 2-3 games of calibration gives bigger mmr swings, meaning you can win or lose more mmr per game than the remaining 7-8 games.

You can lose about 2.4k mmr +- if you intentionally feed 40 deaths every calibration game. This is from a reverse mmr experiment dropping from 3850 mmr to 1500 mmr in 10 calibration games. The maximum amount of mmr you can lose for feeding as a support hero is also lower than a carry lul.
You can find out your actual starting mmr in each calibration game by using (team average mmr x 5) - (total of your 4 teammates' mmr), unless some of your teammates are TBD too.

Last but not least, I don't think a 2k player on a 4k account would definitely drop the account to 2k over time.
I'm certain the 2k player will drop the 4k account to 2k if he is always going mid because there's where they get abused by the strongest players on the other team the most.
But if he often picks other roles, and he has zero impact on the game I think there's still a fairly high chance it wouldn't drop to 2k after a long period of time. Maybe just 3.x k. It's not like you don't get jungling LCs who stays in the jungle untiil 20mins in 4k games anyway. Thus you can suck but there's always going to be 4ks who suck just as much as you on the other team, making it a 50%+- win rate if you can make zero impact instead of negative impact in your games (eg. 1 useless jungler on each team instead of a useless mid feeding the opponent mid).

                                                    🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

a high mmr player will get to his right mmr, no matter if he calibrates 2k or 4k

and besides, a high mmr player will perform highly in unranked and he'll still start at like 4k bare minimum

                                                      and no, a 4k sucks like a 4k, not like a godamn 2k

a 4k on his shittiest day is still better than a 2k,

sure in 2.5-3k the orginal 2k will survive, and maybe float or just have a slower drop

but a 2k mmr difference is not that easy to survive in.

best use for this is the Purge's mmr numbers.

a 2k might have a slowed down descent if he uses some tricks like playing support so he doesn't have to be impactful in the game, but he will still descend down.

There are barely any differences between 2k and high 3k. Both are a joke, I could care less what you want to say as a 2000 mmr jump or whatever. All equally bad

There are more good players in 4k than 2k, but there are also plenty of bad players who play like 2ks.

I've had some 4k friends who want to farm the entire game. Teamwipe the enemy and their t2 tower is free for taking, maybe even a rosh or 50% of t3 tower's hp? Let's go farm nc instead or tp to another lane to farm creeps. This is why 2k players can survive in 4k if they make zero impact, because there are often 4k players who make enough negative impact with decisions to be on the same level of contribution as them. These 4k players are decent at handling their heroes, farming fast enough but always throwing away the networth advantage by getting caught alone for stupid reasons or charging into 5 enemies after pinging teammates to go regardless if teammates are following behind him (and feeding if no one is behind him).

Similarly I also had 2.6k friend who plays only support, but he hardly wins games because even if he wins lanes for his carries they would proceed to throw away the networth and xp advantage anyway. Ever since he switched to playing carries he's now 3.2k and rising.

Then I have this other friend who goes battlefury tidehunter, agha first item sven, battlefury legion and never gets dagger or sb, often misses last hits and also tries to pk with teammates for farm hovering at high 2.x k mmr without dropping.
I mean he's obviously at 1k caliber but because the other 2.x k mmr players are equally as bad, he manages to stay there by doing the same amount (not more, not less) of negative impact as his 2.x k mmr opponents. I think 1 reason is that he's playing tanky STR heroes that survives longer in fights. If he was a fragile support hero spammer then he would probably get abused by the opponents much more.

It's quite amusing to me how they both stayed at 2.6k-2.8k for a long time despite being differently skilled or knowledgeable about the game.

I'm just saying that there are lots of ppl who are able to stay in the bracket they don't belong to, and people who can't climb to higher brackets despite obviously being better than what their mmr tells.

                                                                      🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

                                                                        no they aren't

                                                                        a 4k can be bad, but bad like a 4k, not like a 2k

                                                                        you're surreal

a 2k is not better than a 2k if he can't climb out of his bracket

i've already proven countless amounts oftimes that you can boost mmr with any hero/role at any bracket if you play better than that bracket

clearly those 2k players don't play better than their bracket and they stay there.

send me that 2.6k support and i'll compare him to a shitty 4.6k support. the difference is huge, it's just that you have no idea how to support and you can't even tell the difference.

                                                                        Kermit's dark side

Cooke are you okay fam, you seem bitter lol

                                                                          Spoder-Mon

My solos are in vhs and party games are in normal ... Will that affect my solo mmr ? Coz yasp showed 4.2k rating when i was playing solo .. Now after lot of party games its showing 3.2k !
