I prefer support Kunkka over core, and I like doing the whole Phase into Armlet build, but with the talent change and mana loss, I'm not sure if even that version of Kunkka won't need mana regen with the loss of a mana pool of that size.

I mean kunkka goes mid with bottle, wand, raindrops, and shrines, and drums/echo sabre his mana shud be covered.
Core kunkka that is. Support kunkka has been played enough that i can look up guides, but no one plays core kunkka (mostly cuz its not that good), but it is fun.
I believe more people play support kunkka because his talents benefit support kunkka the most
I know this might sound silly, but I've seen it done like the current meta Ember plays. With the exception of Veil being turned into an Armlet, that is, and BoTs and Blink immediately afterwards. Mana and hp regen taken care of with brief trips to the fountain and then builds into classic Kunkka afterwards.
Thing is that kunkka cant abuse BoT like ember can. Im just not sure its worth it, and tbh his talents rnt that bad for carry. Lvl 10 u take dmg, lvl 15 is a tossup, kinda boring talent tbh, lvl 20 u take the health and lvl 25 u take magic resistance. Actually since carry kunkka has to sink a lot of slots into damage, i like how his talents cover survivability, and the magic resist talent can cover lack of bkb. I just dont know the midgame item, since drums isnt that good for carries anymore, to replace drums.
You could always go Veil as a stat item to take care of anything you were missing aside from mana regen, although, I think 99% of people here would rather just finish a Silver Edge and achieve the same results.
Or god forbid, rush a Pike :O
since 7.00 released i remember only 1 kunka who was successful: he was rush silver edge/dagger (maybe armlet also but i dont remember correctly) + bkb, that was a good kunka, deals damage and probably hard to kill
This is like the 4th time its been mentioned and only now is it just clicking to actually put 2 and 2 together. It has some really nice stats for a core Kunkka. Pretty much everything he wanted from a Drum, but with added damage as well. Remember that a year ago, a core item on him happened to be that dreaded Battlefury. Its sort of like seeing Spectre go Vanguard, when all she really wants to have is Heart on her by 20 minutes, but can't because that would be silly. I think its completely viable as a mid game option for mana, mana regen, hp and damage.
I was thinking phase, armlet, echo/sb, silver edge upgrade (if sb), daedalus/blink, blink (if daed), daed. I was also thinking abt helm, especially cool set ups for torrent like the troll net, or more dmg like alpha wolf.
I mean late game situational is fine, cuz that depends on the game cuz there r a lot of options. But im not sure on early game options.
Teamfights will happen a lot in this patch and relying on cleave damage is real bad

Its not exactly what I would call an mlg pro build, but it kind of does synchronize with his skill set more than I would ever care to admit if someone on my team did it.
Veil is justified on support but core kunkka isnt tanky enough, at least not until lvl 25 with 35% magic resist, to carry radiance and he has to scale with cleave in order to fight. How else do you scale kunkka?
Most people who play him as a core go Phase / Armlet / Crit / Crit / Blink or something like that. Which doesn't scale his damage resistance at all. Radiance offers damage through cleave, dots and offers evasion. Veil gives rather mediocre, but well rounded stats and allows his 2 magical skills more varying degrees of success. Tack on Armlet for damage and resistance and at least 1 crit and you might have something a little less specialized, and a little more well rounded by 7.0 standards. That isn't to say its a good build or anything, just one that might let him see more play time. I looked and looked and aside from 1 game just now, every other game above 5k for Kunkka was an ability draft.

If you were really inclined to scale him even tankier, picking up a Solar Crest for 12 armor and an additional 25% isn't all that bad on him anymore. It wouldn't need to be for the debuff on an enemy as much as it could be for pure tank stats on Kunkka himself. His ult buff could take care of the rest with ease.
But realistically, I would drop the Veil. Money would be better spent on mobility by that point.
I mean kunkka has 35% magic resist at lvl 25 and rum and 300 health at lvl 20. With silver edge he reduces dmg, and if u want u can pick up a heart or ac. Radiance is good on someone in the middle of a fight who can apply the debuff to everyone, like naga, wk, and spec. Kunkka likes standing on the edge of fights, and it doesnt suit his playstyle.
Helm to capture the hill troll then net into torrent into boat. Or x into centaur stomp into torrent into boat

So i usually refer to attacker but he hasnt played many games since 7.00 and hasnt been too succesful either. Plus ive seen his skill build and itemization vary from doing his classic phase drums armlet build but maxing torrent against a ta mid matchup, and doing an armlet silver edge build and maxing cleave. Im just confused. I was also thinking if drums are still good or if yo should replace them with helm, echo sabre, sb, or maybe just faster armlet or something.
