I think he may become a carry in the near future, rushing a Helm/SnY.
I might be wrong though.
Bb sucks level 1, but when he has passive and quills he can threaten the supports. Tho he lacks mana.
i think with SnY - bkb -basher - bloodthorn -AC he can carry very will
offlaner agha octarine blademail shiva heart seems nice
he is the worst hero in the game no joke, but if you must play him s&y and a solar crest are needed, although a support can crest you so you dont have to buy it yourself.
if you want to counter an ember spirit, ursa will destroy him in lane 1v1, even if you are 1k mmr below him, if he is going for cs without 2 bitch supports behind him you will kill him.
BB can be fun to play and dive and hit, but still underpowered as a whole. You can try to do everything for your team or just play for fun, landing huge echo double hits on squishy heros.
But you can't underestimate how big he can hit buildings early/mid, or how dangerous he can be in extended fights.
I think he needs some sort of rework to prevent him from being the most vulnerable hero in the game to break.
Yeah, the break is really fucking his whole concept, and I'm not sure it was intended that way. Maybe it was, but then give him bigger stat gains and/or base armor, so that he isn't completely countered by one item.
I think him going mid for unconventional drafts would do.
Preferably bb and wisp/dazzle would still be OP as long as they get the momentum.
he would carry your team in early, mid, early late fights.
Maybe he would work it's just that we never see him picked by pros since he is easily outshined by meta core's available in the meta today
Just dont fucking dive with this hero.
BB's main job is not to soak all damage from the opposing team, but to prep your team for a teamfight by lowering their armor and slowing them with goo or bringing their HP pools low enough for easier kills with spikes.
That, plus his great mobility with his passive ult is BB's greatest strength, and not his supposed superior tankiness, which is not really true at all.
^he's a pseudo timbersaw with lesser mobility ( can slow damage heroes overtime and can tank and turn)
his role is to dive and zone the enemy team and kill them if they get out of position. w/ sustain he can do more than a timber can do since he can also rightclick towers with large stacks he will have 200ish + dmg.
Nah, there's much truth in what nae is saying, that's usually what Aghs is great for. If your team is not as far behind as to be completely unable to take a fight, Bristle should be able keep their mobility greatly reduced, while him dancing around and damaging the enemy team, possibly getting out the squishy heroes while at it.
^isnt that what you are basically frontlining for the team?
i think frontline is the same as diving am I wrong?
I like playing him as a pos 3 aura carrier. He becomes pretty unkillable midgame once you have Greaves + Pipe + Crimson Guard. All that combined with a Blademail and you're free to do whatever you want as the enemy team tries to either kill you or kite you. He really needs all the survivability he can get.
^problem with aura carrier only is that u dont deal gr8 dmg. Timbersaw for example only needs bloodstone for dmg, cuz mana = dmg for him, but bristle needs to invest in dmg/hybrid dmg items to stay relevant.
Yeah, staying relevant is an issue, I think the game is too fast paced as it is for you to bet on middle game power spike, though undoubtedly that's still an option. Since he has huge flat damage boost with his passive, building an echo is my go-to build in the majority of my games.
And Aghs is pretty much a must have for keeping your passive always on (you can spam your goo without enemies around you too), and it greatly increases the range you throw your snot on enemies.

Radiance sounds nice but its a huge burden to farm tbh. Ur other build seems closer to what i wud do, but i wudnt go lotus if u have greaves, i wud just buy ac, u still need dmg as a bristle
Anyway why play BB jfc when this meta is too fastpaced and teamfights these days are decided within 30 seconds or less
We needed a tank the other day and I picked bb. This build worked for that team on that day. But we had to end early to ensure victory

Edit: note that MK did abandon. Kinda maybe defeats the point
Moo played him carry for col against np in the kiev na qualifiers. Overall bb just doesnt seem to do enough unless he is quite ahead
I love aghs + oct build but it's a huge pain in the ass to farm. Buildup is awful. If you build dmg items so you actually hurt people and farm you'll get those others too late. I've never gone echo on him but wonder if that's good cus it would solve a lot of mana issues so you could spam quills to farm possibly and right click well with his ult too.
Echo seems good because of BB's shit BAT and high damage. Also STR and mana regen are good. Will try this.
I feel like he's only viable if you're fighting inexperienced players who can't really gauge which side has the advantage and underestimates his tankiness and quill damage. Silences and manaburners just shit all over him. He has too many heroes that counter him without really being a good counter against many other heroes. He can negate Riki's backstab bonus damage I guess.
Silence and mana burn r counterable, break isnt. Against silence u can get lotus or even greaves if ur offlane, and against mana burn u can go bkb. I also feel octarine is overrated, bb has the best int gain of any strength hero, and he benefits more from mana regen imo, like lotus, or greaves, or echo. And whats the point of reducing a 3 second cd to 2.25 seconds on quills? Thats basically nothing.

Not to be confused with buy back, bristle back is a strength tanky core hero. Anyway i was wondering how to build him, and if he will be like centaur now, and kunkka at around ti6 time, steadily receiving buffs every patch until he does become good. Ive seen notail take bb mid with echo sabre to counter ember, moo play him safelane (tho this was in elimination mode soooo), and even this gem of a build: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3049709367
Whats ur thoughts?
