Versatile is the word you are looking for.
Just about any support, most notably CM and Rubick. IMO, Slardar too - though he has fallen out of the metta for a reason unknown to my 3ktrash self.
For Cores pick Jugg and Magnus.
Roamers that have very little counters - Pudge, Spirit Breaker, Monkey King, Bounty Hunter, Earth Spirit are very good every game
Riki used to be good before Valve changed diffusal so you can't self purge dust anymore. Bounty is better as an earlier pick in every game because he naturally builds Guardian Greaves/Eul's Scepter to purge dusts. Always pick bounty vs. invis heroes/Mirana obviously for the track, but also because teams are way less likely to buy gems to counter you because of the fear of losing it and fucking their own team over, so you have to only worry about dust (which you can purge with GG/Eul's like I said) or sentries (that have very small vision area and you are very fast when you have enemies tracked).
