I spam heroes that i dont seem to have a grasp on and always lose with. then proceed to grind until i learn it then get bored on spamming it once it becomes a comfort pick.

Mostly spilt-pushing base hero. Support I spam Jakiro. Carry I spam TB. Offlaner I spam Underlord.
I spam Treant in ranked now.
why I like Treant
1) strong laning both lanes safe/hard. e.g. easy to zone out enemy's offlaner with orb of venom especially if its a melee hero or you can go double hard and have lots of fun with enemys trilane. its so easy to kill with treant on lvl 1 or 2.
2) I can heal buildings. So useful especially for t2s.
3) I buy blink and I can start fight myself (initiation).
4) Treants ult is so fucking OP because it works throught bkbs - rip meele carries
5) Can be played as position 3 or 4 with his broken aghs.
6) Invis gives lots of ms as well as stuns ppl.
7) One-shot chickens.
8) Not item dependent at all.
9) Super strong late game - buildings heal, vision everywhere, ability to stop creep wave with aghs.
10) Kinda global presence.
11) I feel that I make a lot of impact on position 5.
why I hate Treant
1) cant help middle at all!!!!
2) you always die if you don't fight in the jungle <-- tested
3) super slow farm/cant push waves
4) really team dependent meaning that you only can fight when you have your ult. you can't really do much in the fight without it.
5) he is melee after all and cant do right clicks late game if played on position 4/5.
6) a lot of money for this :C
7) hard to resist to buy midas
8) iron talon was removed from the game
I really want to get to divine 5 on Treant tbh.

P.S.
When I played Dota Allstars my first hero was Rooftrellen and I spammed him there with vangard + arc boots. He was fucking op with his AOE aura which gave hp regen to heroes and buildings. Because I was learning dota at the time I've build everything on Treant. But I never played him as a support there.
Current meta feels a lot like the good old days with double hard. 
Visage can push, can deal ridiculous damage, can tank damage can split push. Does everything well.
I know this is gonna make many people question my sanity but I could spam Anti mage for days.
